The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) has named Tracy Hassett as its new board chair. Ms. Hassett is president and CEO of edHEALTH, which looks for health insurance solutions for educational institutions.

"It's an honor to represent the VCIA in this new capacity. By engaging with all captive stakeholders, to include staff and board members alike, and having open minds, we will uncover new ways to offer even greater value to all in the captive space," Ms. Hassett said in a statement.

"Under Tracy's board leadership, we look forward to the next phase of development for VCIA as it examines how to maintain and continue to grow value services for the members and the surrounding industry stakeholders," former VCIA Board Chair Andrew Baillie said in the statement.

The VCIA, which was established in 1985, offers lobbying support at both state and federal levels for its nearly 400 members as well as captive insurance education and information-sharing opportunities. The association also works to foster a favorable environment for the growth and health of the captive insurance industry and the Vermont captive community.

Vermont, the largest US captive insurance domicile, reported 645 captives at the end of September, including 30 new captives that have been licensed so far this year.
