An upcoming Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) Hot Topic Webinar will focus on the latest regulatory issues for captives with a team of Vermont regulators.

While Vermont has been successfully regulating captive insurance companies since 1981, the March 29 webinar, "Intel from DFR's Emerging Captive Leadership Team," will explore the issue of what effective regulation looks like in 2023. Each of the three Vermont regulators participating in the webinar has recently assumed a new leadership role within the Captive Division of the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR).

Vermont regulators participating in the March VCIA webinar will include Christine Brown, director of captive insurance; Jim DeVoe Talluto, assistant director of captive insurance; and Heidi Rabtoy, chief examiner.

The VCIA said that following the webinar, participants will be able to understand the regulatory cycle in Vermont for all types of captive insurance companies, communicate effectively with the Captive Division, document the elements of a successful examination, identify insurance trends, and use captives to address emerging risks.

The March VCIA Hot Topic Webinar is $100 for VCIA members and $150 for nonmembers or $85 per person for 3 or more people from a VCIA member company and $135 per person for 3 or more people from a nonmember company.

To register for the webinar, visit the VCIA's website.
