William Wood has joined Artex Bermuda as director, captive and commercial, for Artex's Bermudian operations. In the newly created role, Mr. Wood joins the office's senior management team and is responsible for leading Artex's Bermuda captive insurance and commercial insurance and reinsurance management operations.

His responsibilities include supervising a team of managers and account executives charged with management oversight of a portfolio of complex captive and commercial insurance and reinsurance clients. Mr. Wood will also be responsible for related financial, regulatory, and administrative work, as well as new business development.

Mr. Wood has more than 25 years of experience in the Bermuda insurance and reinsurance market and extensive financial management and analytical expertise.

Most recently, Mr. Wood served as president and CEO of CT Insurance Management (Bermuda) Ltd., part of Charles Taylor, where he oversaw the delivery of management and consulting services to the company's insurance, reinsurance, captive insurance, and segregated cell clients.

He began his career as an accountant in London before moving to Bermuda and focusing on the captive insurance management field. He has also served as treasurer and controller at Nissan Global Reinsurance Ltd., vice president of corporate development for XL Capital Ltd., and vice president for Centre Solutions (Bermuda) Ltd.

"We are thrilled to have William join our team," Scott Cobon, managing director at Bermuda at Artex, said in a statement. "It is an exciting time for Artex. Due to our acquisition of Horseshoe last year, our presence on the island has grown. We created this new role to better manage our captive and commercial business and William is a great fit."

"William's expertise, professionalism, and long-standing history within the captive and (re)insurance fields are well-known on the island," Nick Heys, CEO of Artex International, said in a statement. "I'm confident that his addition to the team will keep us poised for continued growth and expansion."
