A wide range of captive experts will speak at the Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia's annual conference, which will be held September 26–27 at the InterContinental Hotel in the District of Columbia.

In the first session, Dana Sheppard and Sean O'Donnell, both top captive regulators in the DC Department of Insurance, Securities, and Banking, will discuss captive updates and preview what is coming ahead for the DC domicile.

In another session, Dan Kusaila, tax partner at Crowe LLP; Erin Schatzle, tax manager at Crowe LLP; and Chaz Lavelle, a partner at Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, will discuss recent income tax issues that impact captives.

Other conference sessions include a discussion of captive investment policies during turbulent times, cyber risk and the impact on insurance coverage options, and legacy solutions for captives.

More information about the conference is available at the Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia website.

The District of Columbia is a major captive domicile. At the end of 2021, 175 captives were licensed in the domicile.
