Registration is underway for the annual conference of the Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia, Inc. (CIC-DC), scheduled for October 27. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s CIC-DC conference will be conducted online but will offer a number of sessions featuring top captive insurance industry experts.
As the gig economy grows with new business models that often don't fit traditional insurance offerings, captive insurance companies can serve as laboratories to address the risk while gathering data that ultimately might make the risks more palatable to commercial insurers.
The Tennessee Captive Insurance Association (TCIA) will hold a 2-day online captive insurance seminar December 8-9 that will focus on a number of captive issues. Session topics will include the Tennessee domicile, TCIA developments, legislative issues, and a regulators' panel.
The Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia Inc. has rescheduled its annual conference for October 27. The new conference, unlike the originally planned May conference that was canceled in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held online.
The current hard insurance market is markedly different from previous hard markets, with its basis in trends that have been developing for years, according to one panel of experts. On top of the hard insurance market, both buyers and insurers are dealing with operational issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
