The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) will hold its Summer National Meeting in a virtual format due to challenges associated with holding large in-person meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was originally to be held in Minneapolis.

The NAIC said a revised schedule for the meeting with specific dates and times will be available on the NAIC website no later than July 6 and that registration for the meeting will open June 23. Registration fee credits from the canceled 2020 Spring National Meeting may be applied to the registration fees for the 2020 summer and fall national meetings, the NAIC said.

The NAIC plans for the Summer National Meeting to be spread over a 3-week period, beginning the week of July 27 and concluding during the week of August 10. Tentative plans are for working groups, subgroups, and other meetings to take place the week of July 27, task force meetings to be held the week of August 3, and standing committee and executive committee meetings along with EX/Plenary and special programs during the week of August 10.

For meetings and events scheduled for the week of August 10, the NAIC plans to use a virtual meeting platform that will allow for a more interactive, attendee-friendly experience. More details about the platform will be provided with registration materials on June 23.
