The Western Region Captive Insurance Conference (WRCIC) organizers recently announced the lineup of events and speakers for this year's conference, scheduled for April 15–17, 2024, at the Tulsa Club Curio Collection by Hilton in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Conference attendees are invited to an evening at the Philbrook Art Museum and gardens, featuring a special cultural performance led by Osage Native American artist Yancy Red Corn, who is renowned for his contributions to the 2023 Emmy-nominated film Killers of the Flower Moon

On April 16, Insurance Commissioner Scot Kipper of Nevada, Commissioner Chlora Lindley-Myers of Missouri, and Commissioner Glen Mulready of Oklahoma will collectively engage in a fireside chat, offering insights into the captive insurance industry.

The conference keynote speakers will be Mr. Mulready and Mike Breeze, author of Beyond S.M.A.R.T., in Business, Success Happens from Achieving Goals, Not Just Setting Them.

Monday's events include a golf tournament; Captives 101 session, tailored for those new to or considering captives; and an opening networking session. Continuing education credits will be available for many sessions, provided by the International Center for Captive Insurance Education, CLE, and CEU.

Be sure to attend WRCIC sessions showcasing Captive.com service provider sponsor partners Hylant Captive Management, Pinnacle Actuarial, the Utah Insurance Department, and the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance.

  • Hylant Captive Management's Claire Richardson in an Amplify Women presentation featuring a panel of women who are deeply involved in the captive industry as risk managers, captive owners, or industry veterans.
  • Pinnacle Actuarial's Greg Fears in a session on new and emerging uses of captive insurance companies. The session will present examples of emerging risks that are being addressed through captive insurance. The panel will include a captive owner actively engaged in multiple new captive uses. The session will also cover the challenges for actuaries and reinsurers for loss projection and pricing of unique exposures.
  • Captive regulator representatives Travis Wegkamp, Utah, and Jodi Harrison, Missouri, presenting in the regulator roundup session providing firsthand information on regulatory issues from the perspective of the individuals charged with regulation of captive operations.

Attendees are advised to register early. The conference host hotel has sold out, with overflow accommodations filling up quickly.
