West Virginia Governor Jim Justice recently announced he has appointed Allan L. McVey as the state's insurance commissioner, a position he's held previously.

Mr. McVey has served as secretary of the West Virginia Department of Administration since January 2019. He previously served as insurance commissioner from March 2017 until his appointment as secretary of administration.

Mr. McVey fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Jim Dodrill, who announced earlier this month that he would step down once a replacement was found.

Governor Justice named Mary Jane Pickens to replace Mr. McVey as acting secretary of the Department of Administration. Ms. Pickens has served as deputy secretary of administration since January 2015, except for a period from February 2016 to January 2017 when she served as acting secretary of administration.

In addition, Ms. Pickens has served as executive director of West Virginia's Board of Risk and Insurance Management since January 2015.
