South Carolina Captive Insurance Conference Unveils Full 2025 Agenda
August 20, 2025
The South Carolina Captive Insurance Association (SCCIA) has released the full agenda for its 2025 Annual Executive Educational Conference, scheduled for September 23–25 at the Hyatt Place Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina.
The conference opens with the Captive Academy on Tuesday, a half-day seminar designed for newcomers to the captive insurance industry or those looking for a comprehensive refresher. Sponsored by Hylant, the program covers topics from feasibility analysis and implementation to operations and runoff strategies. SCCIA members can also take advantage of a complimentary Captive Academy registration for one prospective captive client.
Wednesday's main sessions begin with remarks from SCCIA President Alex Murray, followed by a regulatory update from Michael Wise and Andrew Noga of the South Carolina Department of Insurance. Other highlights include economic insights from Gary Greene of Raymond James, an artificial intelligence panel with leaders from Frontline Healthcare Partners and 4L Data Intelligence, and a best practices session on risk retention groups led by Christina Kindstedt of Advantage Insurance.
Keynote speaker Jon Engstrom, a veteran cyber-crime investigator and certified ethical hacker, will headline the Wednesday luncheon sponsored by TD Bank. His talk will address the evolving cyber-threat landscape from an attacker's perspective, offering actionable guidance for risk management.
Additional sessions on Wednesday explore banking strategies for captives, operational challenges, and Internal Revenue Service developments affecting micro-captives. The day concludes with a 25th anniversary celebration at the William Aiken House, sponsored by Johnson Lambert and Performa.
Thursday's agenda includes presentations on employee benefits captives, captive taxation, expansion strategies, and managing sexual abuse and molestation risks in insurance programs. Speakers feature experts from Strategic Risk Solutions, Womble Bond Dickinson, Crowe, and Willis Towers Watson.
Breakfast with exhibitors will be offered both Wednesday and Thursday mornings, and a mimosa networking break will take place Wednesday midday to foster engagement with South Carolina regulators.
Registration is currently open online, with additional options for mail-in registration available. A buy-one-get-one registration offer is available to qualifying captive owners. Captive Academy registration is separate from general conference admission.
Full program details, hotel booking links, and sponsorship opportunities are available at the SCCIA website.
