The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) will hold a far-ranging captive insurance company conference on August 24–25 at the Omni Hotel in Oklahoma City.

Conference sessions will include the whys and hows of setting up a new captive insurance company, the success of a company—Express Employment Professionals—in setting up a captive in Oklahoma, what makes Oklahoma a competitive captive insurance domicile, and the benefits of group and cell captives.

A wide range of captive experts will be speaking at the conference, including Donald Ashwood, captive coordinator at the OID; Jerry Messick, CEO at Elevate Risk Solutions; Heather McClure, chief risk advisor for Aon's healthcare practice; Eric Pach, president of Envision Captive Consultants; and Daniel Linton, senior consulting actuary at Pinnacle Actuarial Resources. More information about the conference is available on the OID website.

Oklahoma is a major captive insurance domicile. In 2021, Oklahoma had 38 active captives, with those captives generating $214.4 million in premium volume.
