The North Carolina captive insurance industry ended 2025 with steady momentum and is preparing for continued growth in 2026, according to updates from the North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA).

Lori Gorman of the North Carolina Department of Insurance reported strong performance in 2025, noting ongoing growth in licensed captives and service providers. North Carolina remains one of the top US domiciles, bolstered by a regulatory environment that stakeholders describe as fair and innovative.

The NCCIA has begun accepting proposals for educational sessions at the 2026 NCCIA Annual Conference, scheduled for August 23–26 in Charlotte. Organizers said the event will focus on delivering technical insights, regulatory updates, and networking opportunities for the captive insurance community. Presentation submissions are open online through late February.

The association also issued final notices to members who have not yet submitted their 2026 membership dues. Dues help fund NCCIA's legislative advocacy, educational initiatives, and programming. Members benefit from access to professional development resources and input on future conference content.

More details about the 2026 conference will be announced in the coming months.
