The North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA) Board of Directors met on March 20, 2026, in Durham, North Carolina, to review legislative priorities, conference planning, and ongoing initiatives supporting the captive insurance sector.

NCCIA President Zach Almond highlighted the association's work with the North Carolina Department of Insurance, alongside Lori Gorman and Joe Rosenberger, to advance legislative priorities. The board discussed the importance of maintaining regulatory clarity and engagement with policymakers, while also noting potential implications from developments in the state's Senate leadership race.

The board also reviewed membership renewals and efforts to maintain engagement while expanding NCCIA's reach. Planning for the August conference was a key focus, with plenary speakers confirmed and programming being led by conference Co-Chairs Ian Podmore and Lea Riddle. Updates on logistics and session development were shared, and the board discussed opportunities to expand communication efforts, including potential podcast sponsorships. The Sheraton Le Méridien Charlotte was selected as the host site for the 2027 conference.

Treasurer Scott Bailey reported that the association's financial position remains stable, with resources aligned to support ongoing initiatives and future events.

Lori Gorman of the North Carolina Department of Insurance also provided an update on regulatory developments affecting captive insurance companies in the state, noting continued collaboration with the industry.

In other business, the board approved the addition of an immediate past chair role to support continuity in leadership. Ron Adams will serve in that position through August 2026.

NCCIA encouraged members to stay engaged and to plan for the August conference, with additional updates to be shared in the coming months.
