The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) recently announced its new officers and directors for the 2024–2025 term, with Mary Ellen Moriarty taking the helm as chair of the Board of Directors.

Ms. Moriarty, currently serving as vice president for property and casualty at Educational and Institutional Insurance Administrators (EIIA), brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry to her new role. Her background includes positions with national insurance brokerages and commercial insurers. At EIIA, Ms. Moriarity focuses on the higher education sector. As a longstanding member of CICA, for over a decade, Ms. Moriarty has actively contributed to the organization, serving on the Amplify Women™ Committee and the Board of Directors.

"The need for the captive insurance vehicle has never been as important as it is today which will continue the rapid growth for CICA and the captive insurance industry. I look forward to working with my board colleagues and our volunteer leaders to continue CICA's vital role in providing networking and education to support innovation and best practices to enhance industry growth. And we will continue to raise awareness and advocate for our industry while also being prepared to defend against potential threats," Ms. Moriarty said.

Joining Ms. Moriarty in leadership roles on the CICA board are Heather McClure, general counsel and chief risk officer at Helio, elected as vice chair, and Prabal Lakhanpal, senior vice president at Spring Consulting, an Alera Group Company, appointed as secretary/treasurer. Nick Hentges, CEO of Captive Resources, LLC, assumes the position of immediate past chair.

Returning members to the CICA board include Courtney Claflin, head of insurance at Fluid Truck; Colin Donovan, president of STICO Mutual Insurance Company, a Risk Retention Group; Deyna Feng, director of captive programs at Cummins Risk International; and Udo Kappes, director at RWE AG-Germany.

Additionally, the board welcomes the new members of Anjanette Fowler from PNC Institutional Asset Management and David Beyer from Alaska Airlines.
