HDI Global has integrated its Risk Finance division into board-level oversight, assigning it to Dr. Dirk Höring, who also oversees property, marine, and engineering insurance, as well as HDI Risk Consulting. The shift reflects growing interest in alternative risk transfer (ART) tools.

Risk Finance is structured within HDI Enablers, a unit launched in August 2022 to deliver structured and parametric (re)insurance solutions. The division is led by Eric Joly-Pottuz and has since expanded its offerings, including virtual captives, captive stop loss, parametric (re)insurance, and ART Affinity products. These are designed to work alongside corporate captives.

"Our mission was to enhance our product offering with robust and flexible solutions that closely align with our clients' risks," Mr. Joly-Pottuz said.

To meet rising demand, HDI Enablers recently added two executives to its leadership team. The company has also collaborated with Descartes Underwriting to develop a parametric earthquake solution for the Japanese market.

Dr. Höring said the board-level integration reflects the need for "forward-looking strategies" to address complex risk. "It's the understanding of risk and the ability to respond effectively" that defines exposure, he said.
