Connecticut Captive Group Prepares for November Annual Conference

The Connecticut Captive Insurance Association (CTCIA) will hold its annual conference next month in Hartford, where captive experts will discuss key captive issues.

Leading off the November 4 conference will be Andrew Mais, commissioner of the Connecticut Insurance Department. Mr. Mais will discuss the growth of the Connecticut captive insurance industry and opportunities for the future.

In addition, Michael Serricchio, a managing director at Marsh Captive Solutions, will moderate a panel of Connecticut captive insurance company owners who will discuss a range of issues, including why they chose Connecticut for their captives as well the opportunities they see in the future.

Ian Davis, senior vice president and captive insurance manager at People's United Bank, will moderate a session on catastrophic protection.

Changes to auditing standards will be discussed at another session led by David Stephenson, a senior manager at Johnson Lambert LLP. More information about the conference is available at the CTCIA's website or by calling the CTCIA at (860) 989–8502.

Connecticut is a small but rapidly growing captive insurance domicile. In 2020, Connecticut licensed 6 captives, bringing its total to 22 captives. Connecticut lawmakers passed legislation allowing the formation of captives in the state in 2008.
