AXA XL has promoted Jason Mandik to vice president, head of the Chicago-based US Risk Management team in the central zone; Sandra Clarke to vice president, national practice leader for temporary staffing; and Jessica Carpita to senior casualty underwriter, US Risk Management.

"Each of these individuals has contributed to the success of our US Risk Management portfolio in the US central zone during a very challenging year," Chris Kopser, president, primary casualty, Americas, said in a statement. "I am confident that the regional and technical expertise within this team will further enable us to provide exceptional service for our brokers and clients in the evolving casualty industry."

Mr. Mandik joined AXA XL in May 2019 as a senior commercial casualty underwriter for US Risk Management, specializing in workers compensation, commercial auto, and general liability. As head of the Chicago-based US Risk Management team in the US central zone, he will oversee a team of regional underwriters and is responsible for ensuring underwriting standards, developing new products, and customizing services to better serve brokers and clients.

Based in Chicago, Mr. Mandik will manage the greater Chicago area and the upper Midwest and will report to Chris Kopser. Prior to joining AXA XL, he worked as a broker in the insurance industry for nearly 15 years.

In her expanded role, Ms. Clarke will continue to apply her expertise working with temporary staffing clients across the AXA XL primary casualty portfolio to provide customized service to address the unique needs and offerings of the segment for new and existing clients. She spent the past 2 years as a senior casualty underwriter for US Risk Management at AXA XL. She has held several diverse roles in her decade of insurance experience, including underwriting, claims, and as a casualty broker.

Ms. Carpita joined AXA XL in 2013 as a property underwriting assistant, developing her career to her new role as senior casualty underwriter, US Risk Management. She also serves as the Chicago chair of the AXA XL Corporate Social Responsibility team.

Ms. Clarke and Ms. Carpita are both based in Chicago and will report to Mr. Mandik.

Separately, AXA XL announced that Jason Hawkins joined the company January 1 as senior vice president, regional head of professional in New York. Mr. Hawkins will manage AXA XL's regional directors and officers (D&O) business, working closely with brokers and clients throughout New York and the surrounding area.

"In today's insurance market, there’s a high demand for quality D&O coverage and expertise," Tony Giacco, chief underwriting officer of AXA XL's Professional business said in a statement. "As we continue to meet that demand, we're pleased to have someone with Jason’s experience join our team. Our brokers and clients will certainly benefit from his 30 years of experience advising financial service firms and Fortune 500 companies on management liability programs."

Mr. Hawkins joins AXA XL from AIG where he recently served as head of Retail Distribution. Prior to joining AIG, he was managing director of Marsh’s FINPRO Group where he addressed the professional liability insurance needs of commercial businesses, particularly private equity firms, hedge funds, investment portfolios, financial institutions, and other financial services. He brings more than 3 decades of D&O underwriting management and brokerage experience to AXA XL's Professional team.
