The Texas Captive Insurance Association (TxCIA) has postponed its annual conference due to uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance regarding large gatherings.

The event, the organization's seventh annual conference, had been scheduled for April 7–8. TxCIA said it will be rescheduled for later this year.

In a statement, TxCIA said it is currently targeting a September-October time frame for the rescheduled event, with exact dates to be determined as soon as possible. The organization said it will provide updates by email and on its website at texascaptives.org as soon as information becomes available.

The TxCIA conference's postponement is part of a growing number of industry events that have been postponed or canceled due to COVID-19, including the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA), the Western Region Captive Insurance Conference, and the Risk and Insurance Management Society's Annual Conference and Exhibition. In canceling its event, CICA indicated that it hopes to reschedule it for later this year, if possible.
