Mr. Brophy is a principal and consulting actuary with the Boston office of Milliman, where he has worked since 2005. He provides actuarial consulting services to a diverse range of clients, including multiline property and casualty insurers, captive companies, corporate self-insurers, risk retention groups, reinsurance pools, and state insurance departments.
Mr. Brophy's areas of expertise include loss reserving and funding analysis, captive feasibility studies, commercial ratemaking, and data analysis for management reporting. His work spans both commercial and personal lines, with experience in niche coverages such as US Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act and Federal Employers Liability Act. He has also been involved in projects addressing emerging risks, including cryptocurrency and professional liability exposures related to medical marijuana.
He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). He currently serves on the Legislative Committee of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association and has previously contributed to the Captive Insurance Companies Association Amplify Women Committee, the Casualty Actuarial Society Exam Committee, and the CAS Task Force to Review the Admissions System.
