Registration is open for the Vermont Captive Insurance Association's (VCIA's) annual captive taxation webinar, "Captive Tax Update: What's New and What's Next," scheduled for Thursday, December 10, from 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern via Zoom.

The webinar will examine recent federal, international, and state tax developments affecting captive insurance companies, including regulatory changes in 2026 and emerging issues that captive owners and advisers should monitor as they prepare for 2027.

The Internal Revenue Service continues to scrutinize certain captive insurance transactions, while federal regulations enacted in January 2025 remain subject to legal challenges. The session will address the implications of these regulations and key provisions of 2025 federal tax legislation affecting captive insurers and their parent organizations.

International tax developments will also be discussed, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD's) Pillar Two "side-by-side" package and its implications for captive insurance arrangements within multinational groups. The discussion will examine how recent changes to global minimum tax rules affect captive operations.

At the state level, the webinar will address premium tax and self-procurement tax developments, with a focus on compliance requirements and considerations affecting captive domicile decisions.

Panelists Bailey Roese, partner at Dentons Bingham Greenebaum LLP, and Andrew Christie, managing director, global compliance and reporting at EY, will provide legal and tax advisory perspectives on these developments.

The program will also cover emerging tax, accounting, and regulatory issues that captive owners, managers, and advisers should consider in planning for 2027.

The webinar is intended for professionals with a working knowledge of captive insurance operations and US corporate income taxation, including those involved in owning, managing, auditing, or advising captive insurance companies.

Participants may be eligible for continuing professional education (CPE), continuing legal education (CLE), and International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) credits.
