VCIA Announces Duncan Wardle as Keynote Speaker for 2026 Conference

The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) has announced that Duncan Wardle will serve as the keynote speaker for its 2026 annual conference set for August 11–13 in Burlington, bringing a message focused on creativity, innovation, and challenging conventional thinking within the captive insurance industry.

Mr. Wardle, who spent 30 years with The Walt Disney Company as the company's head of innovation and creativity, led innovation initiatives for Disney Imagineering, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Disney Parks. According to VCIA, his work included collaborating with NASA to launch Buzz Lightyear into space and helping develop some of Disney's most recognizable experiences.

His keynote presentation, titled "The Theory of Creativity™," will focus on the role of creative thinking in an environment shaped by technological disruption, evolving risks, and market volatility. According to VCIA, attendees will explore why creative thinking remains a uniquely human advantage in the age of artificial intelligence, how organizations can challenge established industry norms to foster innovation, and practical ways to embed creative behaviors into organizational culture.

VCIA said the session is designed to provide attendees with practical tools and approaches that can be applied within their organizations following the conference.

The association noted that the captive insurance industry continues to navigate increasing complexity across risk management, technology, and market conditions, making innovation and adaptability increasingly important for captive owners and industry professionals.
