Registration Open for Vermont Captive Insurance Association Conference

Registration is underway for this year's Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) Virtual Annual Conference. The 2021 VCIA conference will take place online August 10–12.

This year's event looks to not only provide high-quality educational content but offer better ways to make face-to-face connections in a virtual environment. For example, this year's virtual VCIA platform will provide a way for attendees to conduct face-to-face online conversations.

Conference sessions will take place over all 3 days of this year's virtual VCIA gathering. Sessions will include an examination of Vermont's 40-year history as a captive insurance domicile. Other sessions will focus on captive innovations, lessons learned from disasters, reinsurance, the risk retention group industry, and the prospects for a Pandemic Risk Insurance Act.

The agenda also includes sessions on moving beyond the pandemic, captive taxation, captive investments, policy lessons from the pandemic, social inflation, setting premiums appropriately, cyber insurance, using cost of risk to support captive strategic decisions, and cell captives.

This year's VCIA virtual conference will also include a captive owners forum with interactive breakouts and a closing hot topics session with Dave Provost, deputy commissioner of the Captive Insurance Division in the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (DFR) and other members of the DFR team.

Instead of a virtual exhibit hall, this year's online VCIA conference will give industry service providers the opportunity to present custom-branded Solutions Labs, allowing captive owners to connect directly with service providers offering solutions to the challenges and problems they face.

In conjunction with the Solution Labs, service providers will be given the opportunity to present "Ignite" sessions, short TED Talk–like presentations addressing particular challenges and solutions and showcasing the latest innovations in the captive insurance industry.
