Captive Resources has launched its new podcast series, Captivating Health Insights, aimed at helping employers explore strategies to improve workforce well-being and manage rising healthcare costs. The debut episode, now available across major platforms, takes a closer look at the growing use of GLP-1 medications in obesity treatment.

Hosted by Maddison Bezdicek, the episode features Brenda Navin, CEO and founder of Launch My Health, and Kelly Rawlings of Vida Health. Together, the panel examines the complex role of GLP-1s—such as semaglutide and tirzepatide—in treating obesity and related metabolic conditions. While these medications are increasingly popular for appetite regulation and weight loss, both guests stressed that they are only part of the solution.

"There is no magic bullet," said Ms. Navin, noting that without lifestyle interventions, patients may encounter muscle loss, weight regain, and other long-term complications. Ms. Rawlings outlined how Vida Health combines GLP-1s with cognitive behavioral therapy, nutritional guidance, and ongoing coaching to support sustainable outcomes.

The discussion also highlighted the financial and logistical challenges associated with GLP-1 treatments. Despite their promise, up to 85 percent of patients discontinue use within 2 years, raising concerns about long-term adherence and cost-effectiveness. Ms. Navin and Ms. Rawlings emphasized the need for benefit design strategies—such as step therapy programs and centers of excellence—that address both clinical efficacy and budgetary impact.

Employers are increasingly pivotal in shaping access to GLP-1s, as they balance employee demand with responsible healthcare planning. The episode underscores the importance of multidisciplinary care models and continued education in maximizing the value of these medications.
