According to the latest newsletter from the North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA), planning is underway for the 2026 annual conference. The association reports that this year's conference committee is the largest in NCCIA history, with 19 members led by Ann Quarum of WellRithms. The committee is focused on identifying captive-insurance subject areas for the Call for Presentations, scheduled to launch in January 2026.
The 2026 conference program is expected to include 14 concurrent sessions, as well as opening and closing plenary sessions. NCCIA also noted that the event will feature an off-site keynote program in Charlotte with a special guest speaker.
NCCIA Board Meets in Durham
Per the newsletter, the NCCIA board of directors convened in late September at the Washington Duke Inn in Durham. Board discussions included new initiatives, the upcoming conference, and outreach strategy. NCCIA stated that both the association and the North Carolina domicile "are moving in a positive direction."
NCCIA Launches Monthly Podcast
NCCIA announced the launch of a new monthly podcast hosted by Ron Adams, former NCCIA board chair. Each episode will feature interviews with key stakeholders in the North Carolina captive insurance sector on current trends and developments.
The latest episode spotlights Scott Bailey, CPA, CFE, of Carr, Riggs & Ingram. Bailey, who also serves as NCCIA treasurer, discusses captive-insurance issues with Adams. The podcast is distributed through the NCCIA newsletter, LinkedIn, and the association's website.
