IRMI Webinar Explores Role of Captive Insurance in Evolving Property Market

IRMI will host a members-only webinar, "Property Insurance Captives: Hard Market Remedy?," on May 27 at 10:00 a.m. (CDT). The session will be led by T.J. Scherer, vice president at Spring Consulting Group, an Alera Group Company, and a seasoned expert in alternative risk solutions.

Interest in using captives for property insurance continues to grow as organizations seek more control over risk financing. This webinar will examine whether captives offer strategic value in the current market environment. Mr. Scherer will explore scenarios where placing property coverage in a captive may deliver savings, including standalone property captives and programs blended with other lines of insurance.

The presentation will cover factors organizations should evaluate before pursuing a captive solution, industries best positioned to benefit, and key barriers to entry. Attendees will also hear an analysis of the potential advantages and risks associated with property insurance captives.

Mr. Scherer brings more than 13 years of experience in captive strategy and design. At Spring, he works with organizations to evaluate and implement captive structures tailored to their risk profiles. His previous roles include vice president of alternative risk consulting at NFP and accounting manager at Artex Risk Solutions. He holds CPA licensure in California and multiple industry credentials, including RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional and Associate in Captive Insurance.
