The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) has announced three upcoming courses for its winter 2026 session, offering core and elective options for professionals seeking to expand their expertise in captive insurance operations, risk management, and taxation.

All courses are delivered online and feature weekly instructor-led webconferences, self-paced reading, and assignments designed to provide practical, real-world application of key captive concepts.

The core course "An Introduction to Alternative Risk Financing Mechanisms" begins on January 7, 2026, with registration open until December 31, 2025. This course introduces participants to the principles of alternative risk financing, focusing on the purpose and structure of various mechanisms used to manage risk efficiently. Students complete self-study assignments, attend four web conferences, participate in a team case study, and take a final exam.

The core course "Understanding Risk and Risk Retention Mechanisms" begins on January 27, 2026, with registration open through January 20, 2026. Designed to provide a foundational understanding of organizational risk management, the course explores how captives can be strategically integrated into enterprise risk financing. It includes five web conferences, weekly assignments, and a final exam.

The elective course "Taxation of Captive Insurance Arrangements" begins on January 8, 2026, with registration closing January 2, 2026. This course examines the tax treatment of captive insurance companies under US federal and state laws, including topics such as Section 831(b) and 501(c)(15) qualifications, non-US captives, and Internal Revenue Service compliance considerations. Students attend four web conferences, complete assignments, and take a final exam.
