The inaugural Cayman NextGen Insurance Forum brought together more than 130 students and early-career Caymanians on May 28 at the Grand Cayman Marriott Resort, highlighting career opportunities across the insurance and reinsurance sector.
The event was hosted by the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC) in partnership with the Cayman International Reinsurance Companies Association (CIRCA) and the Cayman Islands Insurance Association (CIIA). The organizations said the forum was designed to develop local talent and increase awareness of career pathways within the industry.
Opening remarks were delivered by Hon. Michael Myles, MP, minister for Caymanian employment and immigration, who emphasized the importance of expanding career access for Caymanians. Industry leaders Troy Matarazzo of IMAC, Simranjit Singh of CIRCA, and Evelyn Tibbetts-Farrar of CIIA also addressed attendees, highlighting collaboration among the organizations to strengthen the sector's future workforce.
"As the inaugural forum, the event marks the beginning of deeper, sustained engagement for IMAC with young Caymanians and the future workforce of the insurance sector," Troy Matarazzo said. "This forum reflects our commitment to connecting young Caymanians with real opportunities across the sector and highlights the range of pathways available from an early stage."
A young professionals panel provided attendees with firsthand perspectives on careers in financial services and insurance-related fields. Moderated by Brittany MacVicar of Cayman Finance, the panel featured Lauren Anderton of Cayman Finance, Chad Bodden of Island Heritage, Appolina Winton of Appleby, Sebrina Lewis of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), and Aryana Grant of KPMG.
Winton and Grant were previously recognized as CIRCA Rising Stars, an initiative that highlights emerging talent within Cayman's financial services sector.
Students also participated in an interactive question-and-answer session, where professionals discussed entry points into the industry, career development opportunities, and the day-to-day responsibilities associated with various roles.
The forum's Career Insights Hub expanded networking and learning opportunities by connecting attendees with professionals from insurance, banking, investments, compliance, legal, human resources, and audit disciplines. Participating organizations included the Cayman Actuarial Network, Cayman Finance, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, the Cayman Islands Recruitment Association, Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman, and Hello2HIRED.
Organizers said the event reflects a broader effort to build awareness of career opportunities and strengthen the talent pipeline for Cayman's insurance and reinsurance industries through ongoing engagement with students and young professionals.
