Bermuda Registers 3 New Captive Insurers in August

Bermuda registered three new captive insurance companies in August 2026, according to statistics released by the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).

The new Bermuda captives included the following.

• One Class 1 company—a single-parent captive general insurance company underwriting only the risks of the owner of the captive and/or affiliates of the owner
• Two Class 2 companies—multi-owner captive general insurance companies, owned by unrelated entities, underwriting only the risks of the owners and affiliates of the owners and/or risks related to or arising out of the business or operations of the owners and affiliates

The new Class 1 company was Valuation Guarantee Ltd. The Class 2 companies were AFC Captive Insurance Company Ltd. and Ide8 Limited.

Through the end of August, Bermuda had registered five new captive insurance companies in 2026, including two Class 1 companies and three Class 2 companies.

Across all insurance classes, the BMA reported 40 new insurer registrations through August 2026.
