July 31, 2025
Angela Nelson, director of the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance, will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural Mid Rivers Risk Forum, taking place September 28–29, 2025, in St. Louis. Organizers also announced that early bird registration has been extended beyond the original July 31 deadline, giving attendees more time to take advantage of discounted rates.
Ms. Nelson will speak during the luncheon on Monday, September 29, drawing from nearly 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. Her public service includes leadership roles in the Insurance Consumer Affairs and Market Regulation Divisions within the department, where she played a key role in the response to the Joplin tornado. She has also served in senior roles at the Automobile Club of Missouri and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City.
In addition to her keynote remarks, Ms. Nelson will moderate a panel of department leaders to discuss current regulatory challenges and innovations in Missouri's insurance landscape.
The Mid Rivers Risk Forum is designed for risk managers, captive owners, brokers, and self-insured entities. The 2-day agenda will feature expert-led sessions, regulatory updates, and peer discussions on emerging risk strategies. Dr. Michel Léonard, CBE, chief economist and data scientist at the Insurance Information Institute, is also scheduled to speak.
The conference will be held at the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel. Attendees are encouraged to book accommodations early to secure the special conference rate.
Early bird registration is now open and has been extended; rates remain available for a limited time.
