Allianz Names Stephen Morton Global Captive Fronting Head
September 25, 2026
Allianz Commercial has appointed Stephen Morton as global head of captive fronting and captive solutions, effective March 1, 2027.
Mr. Morton will be based in Paris and report to Lara Martiner, global head of alternative risk transfer at Allianz Commercial. He succeeds Brian McNamara, who will retire at the end of September.
Mr. Morton will oversee Allianz Commercial's captive solutions portfolio and services, including captive fronting and multinational insurance programs. The company provides these services through Allianz Group's international licensing network.
Its captive offerings include fronting for monoline coverage as well as multiyear and multiline arrangements. The business also incorporates cross-border products and services from other Allianz business units.
"Our captive solutions team has gone from strength to strength in recent years, just as the captive market has grown in parallel, now totaling $60 billion in premiums across around 6,000 captives globally," Ms. Martiner said. "I am delighted to welcome Stephen to our team as we continue to expand our services for clients and brokers across our network. I also want to thank Brian McNamara for his outstanding steering of this important part of our business over the last 7 years, building up our position in the market to where we are now. We wish him well with his retirement."
Mr. Morton has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, primarily in multinational and captive insurance. Before joining Allianz, he was the global chief underwriting officer for fronting and multinational business at American International Group, Inc. (AIG).
He previously served as AIG's head of complex multinational solutions and held regional multinational and captive insurance leadership roles in Bermuda, London, and Paris.
