VCIA Announces Webinar on Captive Insurance Taxation

The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) will host its annual tax webinar, "Captive Taxation: Myth Busters," 2–3 p.m. (EST) on December 11. The session is open to the public and offers Continuing Professional Education, Continuing Legal Education, and International Center for Captive Insurance Education credit, providing a timely opportunity for captive insurance professionals seeking continuing education before year-end.

The webinar will feature an expert panel discussing four persistent myths surrounding the federal and state income tax treatment of captive insurance companies. According to VCIA, speakers will examine current tax trends, highlight recent federal developments, unpack key tax concepts, and clarify common misconceptions that continue to surface across the industry. Operational best practices for tax, finance, audit, and regulatory coordination will also be addressed.

Learning Objectives

Participants completing the webinar will be able to

  • apply operational best practices that strengthen coordination among regulatory, audit, tax, and finance functions.

The session is designed for professionals with a basic understanding of tax and captive operations and is offered at an intermediate level. No advanced preparation is required.
