Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney will be the keynote speaker for this year's Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) International Conference, March 10–12, at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale.

Two-time winner of the Top Gun award, Mr. Rooney is an F-16 fighter pilot who founded the not-for-profit foundation Folds of Honor in 2007. Since its founding, the foundation has provided close to $240 million in scholarships to nearly 51,000 children and spouses of fallen or disabled military members and has also moved to extend its mission to families of America's first responders.

Mr. Rooney flew three combat tours during the Iraq war, piloting an F-16 Viper. He has received numerous military commendations and medals as well as the White House's Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

In his keynote, Mr. Rooney will address CAVU, an Air Force acronym standing for Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited. CAVU is used to describe the perfect weather conditions for fighter pilots, "when steel blue skies invite them to spread their wings like a supersonic eagle," as explained on danrooney.com.

Mr. Rooney will also discuss embracing CAVU as a daily pathway for clarity of purpose, fulfillment, pressing through life storms, and a deep relationship with God.

Conference attendees can expect to hear from Mr. Rooney on a variety of themes and topics, including leadership, fighter pilot lessons, Folds of Honor, unlocking talents through faith, and embracing resistance with a resilient spirit.

Keynote sponsor, Leon Rives II, chief visionary officer, RH CPAs, PLLC, said, "Lt. Col. Rooney's passion, his distinguished military career, and his success as a professional golfer, philanthropist, and author all flow from his purpose-driven life. He truly wants to inspire us all to live a full life and to help others."

This year's CICA International Conference is set to offer over 30 educational sessions with over 100 industry experts and will include professional development opportunities, essay contest winner presentations, along with networking receptions and events.
