The Alabama Captive Insurance Association (ACIA) will hold its annual conference in-person September 16–18 at the Westin Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama.

For the first time, the ACIA conference will promote student engagement by incorporating student-focused sessions and networking opportunities.

"With the launch of the association's Risky Business Internship Program, we are excited to provide risk management and insurance students with educational resources and networking opportunities to recruit the next generation of professionals into the risk management and insurance industry," Justin Law, managing director of the Risky Business Internship Program, said in a statement.

The ACIA's annual conference provides members of the captive insurance industry student recruitment opportunities, continuing education sessions, and industry networking and updates. The 2020 conference will host insurance professionals, captive insurance company owners, insurance agents, and risk management and insurance students from around the country to address industry topics and the future of the captive insurance industry.

"This year's conference will be unlike any conference we've had in the past," ACIA President Norman Chandler said in the statement. The event's innovative networking and recruiting opportunities, session topics, and unique social events will set the course for future ACIA conferences, Mr. Chandler said.

The ACIA said that because of concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization is taking extra precautions to ensure attendee safety. Those precautions include providing complimentary masks and hand sanitizer to each attendee, implementing an official "no-touch" conference greeting, and collaborating with the event venue to implement additional safety measures, such as hand sanitizing stations, social distancing protocols throughout the event, and removing buffet-style eating options.

The theme of this year's conference is "Roaring 20s: The Future of the Captive Industry." For more information or to register visit the ACIA website.
