Derek Stenson has joined Conyers Dill & Pearman as a partner in its Cayman Islands Corporate practice. Mr. Stenson's experience includes insurance, reinsurance, and structured products.

Kevin Butler, partner and head of the Cayman Islands office, said, "[Mr. Stenson's] background, particularly in insurance and reinsurance, makes him a custom fit for us. We are very confident that his significant and broad expertise will help us further strengthen our position in Cayman."

Beginning in 2003, Mr. Stenson trained and worked in the insurance and capital markets practice of leading Irish law firm William Fry. In 2011, he joined Walkers law firm in Cayman, where he specialized in insurance, capital markets, and general corporate and finance matters.

He has advised a broad range of international financial and insurance institutions on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance law and regulation. He has also been an adviser for insurance mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions, repackagings, collateralized loan obligations, portfolio transfers, restructurings, stock exchange listings, migrations, contractual negotiations, and regulatory and compliance matters.
