RatedCaptives

August 05, 2014

From Martin G. Ellis, Comerica Bank:

A.M. Best has been rating captives for decades. Risk retention groups have been rated since 1991; pools and trusts, since 1997.

If you type in the name of the captive (or any other insurance company, for that matter) into the A.M. Best Ratings icon that you'll see on most of captive.com's pages, this will link you to A.M. Best's website (www.AMBEST.com) where you will get the rating (if available) for free.

If you want more detail on the rating (e.g. rating rationale, business review, financial performance, capitalization, liquidity, etc.), you can order a copy of the Company Report for $35.
