South Carolina Captive Insurance Association (SCCIA) will host its 18th Annual Executive Education Conference September 12-14, 2017 in historic downtown Charleston. The event features presentations by top thought leaders in the industry, continuing education opportunities, networking with industry leaders and government officials, and more! All of this in beautiful historic Charleston which has been voted the No. 1 City in the U.S. and Canada in Travel + Leisure’s 2017 World’s Best Awards for the 5th consecutive year! This year’s conference includes sessions such as: Drones, Bots and Self-Driving Vehicles, “Trump-onomics”, Value Drivers for Forming a Captive, Voluntary Employee Benefits in a Captive, Exploring the Captive Tax Landscape, and much more. We will feature TWO keynote speakers: Merril Hoge, an ESPN analyst who will show attendees how to Find a Way, and Dr. Rebecca Heiss will teach us about Breaking Through the Blind Spots. Receptions, breakfasts and breaks will provide ample opportunity to interact with captive professionals and owners from all over the country. The Captive Academy is for those that want to know the “nuts and bolts” and “how’s and why’s” to forming a captive insurance company. The one-day course on September 12th will cover how a captive is formed from the feasibility study, the roles the actuary, CPA, bank, captive manager, attorney, investment advisor, and regulators play in the formation and the daily operation of a captive and why they are so important to the State of South Carolina. For those who wish to relax, join the SCCIA Annual Golf Tournament is at the spectacular Daniel Island Club again this year. Teams and individuals are welcome!
