The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project (BEPS), the ideal nonexecutive director for a captive board, and reinsurance disputes are the latest topics covered on the Global Captive Podcast.

In Episode 22, executive producer Richard Cutcher is joined in the Fenchurch studio by guest cohost Jenny Coletta, tax partner at EY, who provides an update on the latest BEPS developments and how countries are applying its guidelines.

"Lots of countries are still not necessarily understanding the importance of the captive insurance industry, and there is that perception that the captive will be located in a low or zero tax jurisdiction and that's therefore the purpose—that tax is the driver for that," Ms. Coletta tells Mr. Cutcher.

Julia Graham, deputy CEO of the UK risk management association Airmic, discusses her experience as a nonexecutive director on four boards in Guernsey and why there is a need for greater diversity on captive boards more broadly.

The third guest is Peter Halprin, a New York-based partner at Pasich LLP. Mr. Halprin addresses the complex challenge of captive reinsurance disputes and sets out some practical steps to reduce the likelihood of a dispute arising between the captive and its reinsurers.
