The North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA) recently announced the following two changes for its 2020 annual conference.

  • The conference will take place in May rather than August, specifically on May 13–15. The change in date is intended to move the NCCIA conference out of the late summer/fall captive conference season and will also enable the NCCIA to lay out its goals and agenda earlier in the year.

  • The conference will be moving to the Washington Duke Inn on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

The NCCIA believes the location combined with the change in date will enable it to attract more attendance from captive owners.

In anticipation of the upcoming sixth annual conference and using a new streamlined process, the NCCIA is seeking proposals for presentations, which are due by September 30, 2019. For its 2020 event, the NCCIA seeks topics related to captive insurance innovations and captive insurance industry hot topics, as well as submissions related to engaging new and diversified insurance professionals.
