The Connecticut Captive Insurance Association (CCIA) will host its 2018 Annual Collaborative focused on Innovation and Managing Cyber Risk through Captives.    

The CCIA will be hosting events at two venues that it said reflects the tradition and innovation of Hartford.

Evening, October 16, 2018: CT Insurance Innovation Reception

                          Hartford, CT

David Griggs, CEO of MetroHartford Alliance, will provide insight into the very active Hartford insurance innovation ecosystem. The other panelists, who have all been involved with Hartford InsurTech startups, will share experiences and discuss how the captive insurance market can be served by startups like their businesses.

All Day, October 17, 2018: Cyber Risk Management and Cap-a-thon

CCIA said that it seeks to continually reengineer and reinvigorate its annual event. For this year's event, CCIA is capitalizing on the innovative hackathon concept with its Cap-a-thon (a.k.a. captive hackathon).

Cap-a-thon highlights include the following.

  • Industry leader Scott Hudson, CEO of Gallagher Bassett, will discuss his views on innovation and technology.

  • Upward Hartford is Hartford's new downtown venture to coach tech startup businesses into successful businesses. According to CCIA, the shared space concept and state-of-the-art work environment is a great location for this year's event.

CCIA believes that captive insurance owners, risk managers from companies considering the formation of captive entities, and emerging startup companies will all benefit from the sharing of innovative solutions to emerging cyber-risk issues.

CCIA was founded in 2011 to provide a forum focused on captive insurance programs and facilities in the state of Connecticut.
