International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), has opened registration for the 37th IRMI Construction Risk Conference (CRC), to be held November 5–8, 2017, at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The conference brings nearly 2,000 leading project owners, general contractors, subcontractors, developers, insurers, and insurance agents and brokers together to explore and convey state-of-the-art ideas and techniques for improving insurance coverages, controlling insurance costs, and fine-tuning risk management programs.

"With the construction industry in full recovery mode and a recognized need for superior risk management, we expect another strong turnout in Indy this year," said IRMI President and CEO Jack Gibson. "We've put together a strong agenda of educational sessions and networking opportunities, and everybody who is anybody in construction risk will be there."

CRC is the only national symposium devoted exclusively to construction insurance, risk management, loss control, and bonding. The agenda will feature more than 60 carefully selected speakers presenting 42 educational sessions designed to provide construction risk professionals with proven risk management strategies and insights. For example, one session, "The Captive Decision," will feature a panel discussion on the analysis contractors should perform in deciding whether to use a captive and, if so, how to choose between a cell captive, group captive, or pure captive.

"The Captive Decision" panel will feature Brady Young of Strategic Risk Solutions and Bruce Moldow of Moss & Associates, who will walk through this complex decision-making process and provide attendees with practical resources and insights.

The construction industry is one of the top utilizers of captive insurance companies. Still, a captive is not the best solution for every contractor, and the decision to form a captive requires a thorough examination of the contractor’s objectives, appetite for risk, funding capabilities, and much more.
