Vermont Captive Legislative Proposal Progresses

Vermont State Capitol
March 23, 2015

Proposed legislation that reduces the capital requirement for sponsored captives from $500,000 to $250,000 has passed the Vermont Senate and has been referred to the state's House Committee on Commerce and Development. The proposed legislation also reduces the number of persons required to incorporate or organize a captive insurance company from three to one.

There is no change in the requirement that one of the incorporators or organizers be a Vermont resident.
