Captive Professional of the Year Karin Landry

Karin Landry
December 09, 2014 joins the chorus of those congratulating Karin Landry, who was recently honored with the US Captive Services Award "Captive Professional of the Year." Eleven captive peers working with Captive Review on the 2014 Captive Services Awards selected Ms. Landry to receive this honor. She is managing partner at Spring Group.

Ms. Landry is widely recognized as a leader in the captive insurance world and has focused on optimizing insurance funding, particularly around using captives to fund employee benefits. Her efforts have resulted in eight patents for benefit funding programs, with the most recent patent for pension funding in a captive being awarded in the spring of 2014. She has been deeply involved in securing US Department of Labor approval for many of the companies that fund employee benefits in captives, resulting in significant employee benefit savings for her clients.

John Cassell, Spring’s senior partner, said, "We are all very proud of Karin for not only receiving this honor, but also her hard work and dedication to her clients which we are fortunate enough to witness every day."

Ms. Landry holds ACI, CLTC, and GBA professional designations. She has over 25 years of experience in the insurance, healthcare, risk financing, retirement, and benefits industries and is an internationally recognized leader in captive insurance strategy, benefits, and financing. Ms. Landry is past chairman of the Board of the Captive Insurance Companies Association and a member of the ERISA Industry Committee. She is also an instructor on employee benefits and member of the finance committee for the International Center for Captive Insurance Education. Her expertise around benefits allowed her to coauthor a white paper for Business Insurance titled "Captives for Benefits: How to Use a Captive to Save Money and Enhance Benefits Coverage."

Those attending the Cayman Captive Forum last week were witness to how she was able to adeptly overcome the last-minute hurdle of not having two speakers show for "The Best Practices for Insuring Medical Practices from Cyber Risk" panel. The substitute panel members and Ms. Landry made excellent presentations.
