Scott Meise, Rotary International insurance professional, and Raeanna Browne and Tagel Nicola, both students at Howard University, were recently awarded scholarships to the captive education programs of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE).

ICCIE was conceived and spearheaded by Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA), which donated more than $100,000 of seed money to support the establishment of the industry’s professional education program in 2004. The ICCIE Distinguished Scholar Award was presented to Mr. Meise for achievements in and commitment to the captive insurance profession and for community service. Raeanna Browne and Tagel Nicola were the recipients of the Harry House Scholarships sponsored by the Housing Authority Insurance Group (HAIG). They were chosen based on scholastic excellence and good standing in the university community. The scholarships are reserved for minority students studying risk management at an accredited college or university. During his lifetime, Mr. House served as a captive insurance company chief executive officer and as an independent director on several of the HAIG boards of directors. Announcement of the awards was made by Mitch Cantor, ICCIE executive director, at the recent VCIA Annual Conference. Visit the ICCIE website.
