United States versus Europe Captive Use Compared

International Perspectives & Issues | Alan Fleming | Chairman | Airmic | World captive Forum 2015

In this video, Alan Fleming of Airmic describes some of the differences between the European captive insurance industry versus captive use in the United States, including the fact that group captive insurance companies are far more frequently used in the United States. In addition, insuring employee benefits in captives is more common in the United States because it is considered clear third-party risk allowing for tax-deductibility. This line is not as clear in Europe. However, Europe is seeing some increase in pensions longevity risk being insured through cell captives.
