Karen is a senior consultant and Partner with Spring Consulting Group, LLC, formerly Watson Wyatt Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. She has over twelve years of experience in the property/casualty and disability insurance industries with an emphasis on risk financing and process improvement. Karen performs both qualitative and quantitative analysis of workers’ compensation, disability, and captive programs. Her areas of focus include total absence management, captive financing and funding, and insurance and financial services strategy. Prior to joining Spring Consulting Group and Watson Wyatt, Karen led the regional risk & insurance practice for a small consulting firm, held the role of Assistant Risk Manager for one of the nation’s largest banks, and was a casualty broker for two of the world’s largest insurance brokers. Karen has her BBA in Risk Management and Human Resources, and her MBA in Finance. She has also earned the designations of CPCU and ARM. |

Chris brings over 20 years of funding experience in his role as life, group and health care actuary. Chris has worked with clients and providers alike on financing and creative funding strategies. Together with Karin Landry, Chris designed the vehicle that was approved by the DOL and the IRS on self-funded captives. Chris worked for Watson Wyatt for 15 years, and is now our national actuarial resource for offshore and life insurance related projects. |

Karin Landry is the Managing Partner of Spring Consulting Group, LLC. Prior to this, she lead the Watson Wyatt’s U.S. Insurance and Financial Services practice and New England Group and Healthcare practice. Karin has over eighteen years of experience in benefits, risk financing and the insurance industry, including the captive area. Prior to joining Spring, Karin worked for Watson Wyatt for ten years, and led many clients through the process of analyzing the funding of employee benefits through captive mechanisms and developing relevant insurance products. In addition, Karin has spoken frequently on this and other captive topics at conferences including VCIA, Bermuda Insurance Symposium, World Captive Forum, Bermuda Captive Conference, CICA and others. |

Rick Schnurr is a principal with Spring Consulting Group, LLC, and has over 15 years of experience in the corporate insurance and employee benefits funding markets. Rick joined Spring in 2004 and consults to employers and financial institutions on the design, implementation and servicing of both traditional and nontraditional funding vehicles. Prior to joining Spring, Rick held senior management positions with an east coast consulting firm where he was instrumental in the negotiation and implementation of over $7 Billion of Corporate Owned Life Insurance. In addition he worked as an actuarial student for a large insurance company in Canada. Rick earned his Bachelor of Mathematics in Actuarial Science from the University of Waterloo in southern Ontario. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. |
