Arizona Captive Insurance Association
Announces Winner of First Crystal Cactus Award
And New 2008-09 Board and Officers

Phoenix, AZ – May 7, 2008

At its 5th Annual Conference, held at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, the members of Arizona Captive Insurance Association (AzCIA) held their Annual Membership Meeting and Election, electing two new directors to the 2008-09 Board of Directors.

Brent Hill, Vice President, Hill Insurance Services
Peter Joy, Executive Vice President, Aon Insurance Managers (USA), Inc.

The members also re-elected the following existing board members for additional three-year terms:

Charles R. Cohen, Esq., Barger & Wolen, LLP
Christopher S. Murray, CPA, Caitlin-Morgan Insurance Services
Ann W. Wick, CPA, Strategic Risk Solutions (Arizona), Inc.

Following the Annual Meeting, the new Board elected its 2008-09 Officers as follows:

President - Ann W. Wick, CPA
Vice President – Christopher S. Murray, CPA
Treasurer – Joseph Pieksza, CPA
Secretary – Brent Hill

The highlight of the Annual Meeting was the presentation of the first AzCIA Crystal Cactus Award to Marc J. Lapointe. Marc was the author and driving force behind the passage of the Arizona Captive Law, and founded AzCIA where he served as President during its initial three years. Marc is Vice President and Manager of USA Risk Group (West), Inc. and is responsible for design, implementation, licensure, and management of captive insurance companies in domiciles throughout the United States. He has eighteen years of experience in the captive industry and is the founder and developer of CaptiveGuru.com, an industry specific web site.

AzCIA’s 5th Annual Conference attracted 140 registrants from all over the country, as well as many Arizona-based captive industry professionals. Arizona’s Director of Insurance Christina Urias played a prominent role in the conference and educational sessions.
