AzCIA to Announce Crystal Cactus Award Winner at Upcoming Conference Gold Canyon, AZ The Arizona Captive Insurance Association (AzCIA) will announce the identity of its first Crystal Cactus Award Winner at the 2008 Annual Conference and Membership Meeting being held at the Arizona Biltmore next week in Phoenix. The award winner was selected from a list of industry leaders identified by the AzCIA Board of Directors and given to the Awards Committee for consideration. This award will be presented on an annual basis if the Board sees someone whose contributions stand out for recognition. According to AzCIA President Michael R. Mead, CPCU, the award was designed for a single individual or entity that has made a significant difference to the captive insurance industry in Arizona. “This new honor is intended to pay a small tribute to someone who has contributed to the broader understanding of captives, and/or assisted in the growth and success of the Arizona captive insurance industry, someone who has raised the awareness of captive insurance, and promoted professionalism, creativity, and ground breaking ideas for the industry”, Mead said. “The cactus being a symbol of Arizona, the Board agreed that it should represent the unique achievements of those people who have gone out of their way to lead Arizona to its prominent position in captives.” The inaugural award winner will be announced at the AzCIA Annual Meeting on Wednesday May 7th. You will want to be present so you can hear the words: “And the winner is……”!
