Belmont Risk Solutions Limited (Belmont), has become the latest company to join the HLA Global insurance broking network as the member for the British Virgin Islands, one of the leading financial service centres in the Caribbean region.

Belmont offers a full range of insurance-related services and products. In addition to providing intermediary services for the residents and businesses of the British Virgin Islands, Belmont also provides specialist services, including captive management and reinsurance placements. Its sister company, Belmont Insurance Management Limited, is one of the leading captive managers in the region with over 90 captive insurance and reinsurance companies under management.

Belmont’s principal, Simon Owen, has worked in the finance industry for over 13 years, specialising in investment strategies and insurance and reinsurance solutions. Prior to becoming the licensed insurance manager of Belmont Insurance Management Limited in early 2005, he spent over a decade in the Lloyd’s insurance market, latterly in the new business development division of a leading international reinsurance intermediary. Simon is the Managing Director of Belmont Risk Solutions Limited, Chairman of the British Virgin Islands Association of Insurance Managers and serves as a member of the British Virgin Islands Marketing Advisory Committee, the Financial Services Institute Advisory Committee and the Joint Anti-Money Laundering Coordination Committee.

Commenting on this latest development he said:

“I am delighted that Belmont’s application to join HLA Global has been approved. HLA Global is a strong, established broking network, providing high quality cross-border broking and risk management services to a diverse range of clients. Our clients in the British Virgin Islands and those based overseas can only benefit from our affiliation with leading international firms such as Heath Lambert and Acordia. Membership not only provides us with greater access to insurance markets, it allows us to utilize a wealth of broking talent around the globe without having to compromise our independence and the bespoke, dedicated service that has made Belmont so successful.”

Welcoming Belmont to the network, Grahame Weatherley, Chief Operation Officer of HLA Global said:

“Belmont’s membership of HLA Global means that we now have a strong partner in the British Virgin Islands whose local knowledge and insight will enable HLA Global members around the world to meet the needs of those of their clients with a requirement for service and support in this important territory. Increasingly, businesses are recognising that our network’s ability to offer them a service which is tailored to their individual needs, is a superior model to the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach adopted by our competitors. The fact that successful, established firms such as Belmont are eager to be members of HLA Global underlines that fact and strengthens our network still further.”
