THE VERMONT CAPTIVE INSURANCE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT

January 12, 2012

BURLINGTON, VERMONT --- The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) is pleased to announce that Janice Valgoi of Essex, Vermont has been selected as VCIA's new Director of Membership and Development.

Janice was most recently a Partner at Delaney Meeting & Event Management in Burlington, Vermont. She was in the hotel business for over 20 years in Florida, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and Virginia, before transferring to Vermont to work at the Radisson Hotel Burlington in 1990. Janice was the Director of Sales for 16 years responsible for conventions and marketing.

Janice was an adjunct professor at Champlain College for Destination Management. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Vermont Convention Bureau and the YMCA Camp Committee. She is a past President of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International and the past Chair of the Vermont Convention and Visitors Bureau's Marketing Committee. She graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Janice will begin working with VCIA on January 16th.

Barbara Casanova, VCIA's current Director of Membership, has elected to pursue a career in consulting out of her Miami, Florida location and will consult for VCIA through the transition. VCIA thanks Barbara for her long dedication to VCIA and its members, and wishes her the best in her new endeavor.

In announcing the choice, Richard Smith, President of the VCIA stated, "Janice is an incredibly talented individual and we look forward to her coming on board." He added, "Barbara Casanova has done a wonderful job for VCIA during her years of service, and we wish her the very best."

The VCIA is the largest captive insurance association in the world representing nearly 500 members. The Association works to ensure that the educational and networking opportunities and regulatory environment are conducive to the success of Vermont's captive insurance industry. Vermont is the largest domicile in the United States for captive insurance and the third largest domicile in the world. The industry is responsible for nearly 1400 full and part-time jobs in Vermont and in 2011 contributed nearly $24 million dollars in premium taxes to the State's general fund.
