Atlas Adds Staff for US Operations 11th August 2010
Mr. Chick will be responsible for managing a growing portfolio of captive insurance companies in both onshore and offshore domiciles while helping to build the staff and infrastructure to serve clients as Atlas expands its presence in the United States. Mr. Chick has more than thirty years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. He was most recently chief financial officer and treasurer of a mono-line workers’ compensation insurer offering alternative market facilities for clients wanting to participate in the underwriting risk through their own segregated cell. Before this, he was co-founder and chief financial officer of an insurance holding company, which had subsidiaries operating as a managing general agency, an offshore, agency captive insurer, and premium finance company. He has insurance company operating experience as president and chief operating officer of Selective Insurance Company of the Southeast, a regional, multiple lines property and casualty insurer. Prior to that assignment, he had been vice president, secretary, and treasurer of this insurer. He has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. Paul Halter, senior vice president for United States Operations, commented. “Jim has both a strong financial and insurance accounting background with admitted carriers and captive insurers and hands-on operating experience with insurance companies. Such a combination of knowledge and skills will be of special value to our clients now and as Atlas expands.” About Atlas Insurance Management – Atlas Insurance Management is one of the world’s leading independent captive insurance managers, providing captive insurance consulting, captive formation and management services, and insurance program design and administration.
