Zurich names Rod DeMaso head of Captives & Alternative Risk Transfer Solutions for Programs & Direct Markets DeMaso to help grow the Captives & Alternative Risk Transfer Solutions strategic business unit
Schaumburg, Ill., July 15, 2010 – Zurich, one of the leading property and casualty insurance providers globally and in North America, announced the appointment of Rod DeMaso as head of Captives & Alternative Risk Transfer Solutions for its Programs & Direct Markets business unit. DeMaso will be based in Schaumburg, Ill. and be responsible for overseeing Zurich's insurance offerings that use alternative distribution approaches for captive consultants and specialized agents and brokers. "We believe Zurich is a market leader in this space, and we see captives and alternative risk transfer solutions as a vital and growing opportunity to help customers achieve their risk management goals," said Craig Fundum, president of Zurich's Programs & Direct Markets business unit. "Rod's experience will enable Zurich to maintain and grow our book of business in this important sector." DeMaso joined Zurich in 1999 to oversee industry segments and moved into captives in 2001. Prior to joining Zurich, he held roles in engineering, underwriting, sales, and marketing with Factory Mutual and Allendale Mutual Insurance Company. DeMaso holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Michigan.
